Gilt Design is a slow fashion brand with an ethical and sustainable approach. The materials used in our collections are either natural, recycled or deadstock, and are sourced in Europe. With sustainability in mind, every pattern is zero waste, or when not possible, the fabric leftovers are repurposed. The production takes place in Portugal, and the collections are lovingly manually created by seamstresses and knitters. Their craft and knowledge is respected and they are paid fairly.

The brand not only follows a sustainable approach, but also tries to incorporate crafts such as hand knitting, weaving and embroidery in order to preserve and highlight these techniques. Our goal is to make pieces that are the opposite from fast fashion, so they have a story and a purpose. We want them to be part of your wardrobe for a very long time.

Meet the designer

Hello, I am Andreia, a Portuguese fashion designer born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. With a background in Psychology and Aviation, I full-filled my dream of becoming a fashion designer after moving to Berlin to study in Esmod. In 2016 I graduated in Fashion Design and Pattern Making and moved back to Portugal where I gained valuable experience with internships and by working with other brands. In 2018 I took a leap of faith and created my own brand. Choosing to do so in a sustainable and conscious way was one of the main motivations that push me forward. I have been very fortunate to work with many talented people, models, photographers, knitters and seamstresses. They have been an essential part of my journey. At the moment I travel between Berlin where I live, and Lisbon where all the collections come to life.
